Message From Your Instructional Chair-Chris Torres

My goal for the 2018 season is to continue where we left off with the 2017 season. I would like to see members continue striving to improve their umpire abilities and generate more membership involvement.

Please be aware of the time commitments of these positions as you considering applying. Everyone understands that each of us has family, work, and other commitments outside of baseball. However, the membership expects those who are in these positions to be available and fulfill their duties of the position. I understand completely about trying to manage time and other commitments. Please consider whether you’re able to commit to fulfilling the tasks of these positions, some of which require more commitment than others.
The purpose of this email is to gauge your interest and see who is the best fit for the instructional staff for the 2018 season. I would like your response by Friday, September 15th. Please respond in RED writing to each of the following questions. Thank you for your time and interest.
Christopher Torres

OCBOA Instructional Chairman

Do you want to be a classroom or field instructor, mentor, or observer? If so, why? (If interested in more than one, please rank list of preference 1-4)

The use of video for the instructional program is a key element, would you be able to connect a computer in the classroom to show videos?

If asked to be a classroom instructor, would you have any issues instructing one of the upper level classrooms?

If asked to be a classroom instructor, would you be able to observe at least one of your students during the season?

Would you be available to attend a meeting prior to the season?

Which classroom do you feel best matches your teaching skills? (i.e. 1st year class, 2nd/3rd year class, JV/Varsity, Varsity class)

If selected as a field instructor, on a scale of 1-10, what is your knowledge of one-man mechanics? Two-man? Three-man?

Your thoughts on doing peer evaluations?

As an observer, would you be available to observe officials from other classrooms that need/want an evaluation?

What levels of baseball have you officiated?

How long have you been a member of OCBOA?

Anything you would like to add?
