OCBOA is united in the attitude of development, training and preparation, with the goal of putting our best available product on the field. The package of on-field training through clinics, classroom participation and test results, along with the willingness to give back by mentoring and conducting peer evaluations, are all criteria that we expect of our membership in striving to accomplish this goal and strengthen our organization. In being stronger collectively as a unit, each individual umpire will gain strength and success through better preparedness and confidence for the upcoming year.

150 – Varsity Advanced
200 – Varsity Umpire
250 – JV/Varsity Umpire
300 – JV Umpire
400/2nd Year – JV/Frosh -Soph Umpire
500/1st Year – Freshman Umpire
Varsity Crew Chief: this Umpire will have a 100 rating.
This umpire will have the skills to be a Crew Chief for high school divisions 1 and 2 games. This individual should be proficient in approved high school 3-man mechanics. This umpire should attend and/or instruct at an OCBOA clinic or attend an approved non-OCBOA regular or advance clinic. In addition, he must be able to complete partner evaluations on members rated between 150 to 500. This umpire must be willing to give back as a mentor and/or instructor within our organization. Excellent game management skills are a must for this rating.
Varsity Advanced: this Umpire will have a 150 rating.
This umpire will have the skills to be a Crew Chief for high school divisions 3-7 games. He should be proficient in 2-man mechanics, and be willing to mentor umpires with a rating of 200 or below. He should have the knowledge of and ability to work approved high school 3-man mechanics if assigned. He can only be observed by 100-rated umpires or an approved observation staff member for advancement. He should attend an OCBOA clinic and/or an approved non-OCBOA regular or advanced clinic.
Varsity Umpire: This Umpire will have a 200 rating.
This umpire will work all varsity levels and should have some 3-man training to be scheduled for playoff assignments. Must attend an OCBOA or approved outside clinic, and have the desire to improve and mentor other officials. Will be trained through mentor observations, classroom instruction, OCBOA and approved outside clinics.
JV/Varsity Umpire: This Umpire will have a 250 rating.
This Umpire will primarily work higher level JV games and lower level Varsity games. Will be trained through Mentor evaluations, OCBOA clinics and classroom instruction.
Junior Varsity Umpire: This Umpire will have a 300 rating
This umpire will work JV baseball. Trained by Mentor evaluations, OCBOA clinics and classroom instruction.
Second Year Members: This Umpire will have a 400 rating.
Works Frosh-Soph and JV baseball. Trained by mentor evaluations, OCBOA clinics, and classroom instruction.
Rookie/1st Year Member: This Umpire will have a 500 rating.
Works freshman baseball. Trained at OCBOA clinics and classroom instruction
